Artist Postcard Series

A few of Columbus’ most prolific and talented artists and creatives joined me to conjure up a pack of postcards which you’ll be delighted to mail or not blamed for holding on to for yourself. Proceeds from the sale of these postcards and limited edition prints are returned directly to the artists in the image to ensure that they emerge from the Covid pandemic alive, well and ready to make the world a place worth savoring. Thank you for your support!

Purchase postcards and prints below or visit the PRINTS page for those and more.

The creation of this Columbus photo set was generously underwritten by the fine art loving folks at Yellowbrick Pizza who covered the photographers travel expenses.

This set of 4x6” postcards includes images of all ten artists in the project. Printed on a heavyweight semigloss paper these might be postcards in name, but could just as well suffice as miniature prints to place on your wall, fridge or bedside table. Heck you could even mail them to a friend.

Shipping in the US is FREE!
Overseas first class shipping is available for an additional fee.

Mandi Caskey

Mandi Caskey aka Miss Birdy is a muralist, gallery artist, and community activist. Caskey chooses to place her attention on creating imagery that will force the viewer to look outside of their mental and emotional world. Using an array of different mediums, the artwork pulls itself away from the artist and takes a life of its own. Caskey’s mural work tends to bleed into a fantasy world that organically takes over any environment and effortlessly changes the impact of a space. As a gallery artist, Miss Caskey enjoys painting quickly and freely in oils on wood that she cuts in her wood shop. The pieces tend to have more of a realistic tone, which brings balance creatively to the artist.

Henry Hess

Henry Hess is an artist with autism and he has been using drawing as a primary means of communicating his identity for most of his life. Despite living his entire life in the new millennium, his tastes are decidedly 20th century. He surrounds himself with the characters of classic movies, mostly musicals. His paper drawings of these figures travel with him to school, to bed, and everywhere in between. His parents procured a working space for him outside the home in an effort to alleviate the infestation of characters in their house. It was a failed mission of sorts. Hess utilizes the space to create, but he and his paper figures are nomadic. He struggles to consolidate the numerous bags he carries. As his army of characters grows, so do his totes. Some of his creations are so well loved that they have been worn to the point of tatters, beyond recognition to anyone but Hess. Yet he clings to them, occasionally performing some tape surgeries to resurrect these old friends.

Aimee Wissman & Kamisha Thomas

Founders of The Returning Artists Guild

After serving 5 and 7 years of incarceration respectively, Aimee Wissman and Kamisha Thomas decided to start the Returning Artists Guild (RAG). Both, self-taught artists and filmmakers, they wanted to extend the feelings of community and camaraderie they felt while they were incarcerated. The art groups they created and facilitated on the inside laid the foundation for what is now the RAG: A group of currently and formerly incarcerated artists seeking and creating spaces for our artists to make, exhibit, sell, perform, speak, share, change the narrative around mass incarceration, and to affirm the connection between inside and outside communities.
