Slightly Larger Than Life, Floating on Glass

In December of 2018 the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel asked me to show a selection of my original ambrotype portraits in their White Room Gallery. The reception was beyond expectations with hundreds of people coming to the opening and experiencing the 16x20 glass portraits and ultra large format prints for the first time. I’ll be taking the show to other cities in the future, these images can really only be appreciated up close and in person and I’d love to give more people that opportunity. The ambrotypes were finished using the Cutting technique which involves adhering the ambrotype to another piece of clear glass with Canada balsam sap. This presentation allows viewers to see the image from either side.

Having the 16x20 camera set up in the gallery allowed visitors to experience the huge projected image on the ground glass.
